For a start, at least part of the battle must be in Tel'aran'rhiod, as for the wolves in the wolf dream. And just off the subject, does anyone else believe that Tel'aran'rhiod is the Aes Sedai trying to claim control? Seeing as the wolves seem to be the superior beings there, and Perrin is probably the closest thing to a God there apart from Slayer. But as for the True Power being used to seal the DO away, I used to think that, but after thinking about it, how do you think the DO's own power will seal him away? I mean the True Power is from the DO himself so I think that would be like trying to make a dam from water, it won't stop the flow. I personally think that Rand will not seal the DO away again, I think he will take on the DO and defeat him once and for all. The whole series has been moving to the point where I believe this is the Last Battle for good. Rand will face the DO himself and defeat him. The DO tried to take him on already at Malden and Rand defeated him, without bringing on Tarmon Gaiden as he was pulling back. The awesome force he put on there is maybe just a small taste of what Rand has in store for the DO at the Last Battle. With the schools that Rand has started and the comment Birgitte made of the Dragons makes me think it is all running towards the fact that maybe the circle of ages is coming to and end and perhaps will stop Circling on each other and maybe start a Tapestry of new ages, stemming from the first and continuing instead of reaching a point and starting back again. Please anyone with any other thoughts on this post. i'd like to see what everyone thinks of this.

Lanfear is not done with. look at Rand's dream at the end. And you do know that Lanfear was actually the one who opened the bore? Wonder who the second woman in the circle for Callandor? And the history with Lews Therin and Lanfear? Lol, people read too much into some things but not enough on others. Lanfear is a big part of the ending of the books with Rand.

i think Rand should use the true source to seal the bore, corrupt the dark one while keeping saidin and saidar clean!
i think Rand will be extremely weak after defeating the Dark One, and min, elayne, and aviendha looking over him will keep him alive remember mins viewing of him floating down a river with war on both side? (i dont remember the specifics of it or what book i read it in)

That's pretty funny. I started reading this book in high school too. Spent a lot of nights reading instead of doing my engineering homework through college. I'm now out of school and am progressing through my career...
I think the Wheel of Time is one of those things that speak to specific people in very deep ways. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has enjoyed an intricate story decades in the making...

don't want to be pedantic but it's towers of midnight, but interesting that you think moridin could be the source of the blight, me personnaly i just think the blight is spread by shiatan from shayol ghul, as his ever increasing presence in the world increases the corruption in it.

I agree with most of your assessment, but I've got to say I'm a little disappointed in this book. I feel like Sanderson has taken some liberties with the character's- characters. To me Perrin is so agonizingly boring that it's was hard to even read his sections, and your right that S. strung it out to long personally as much as I love this series I even think RJ strung Perrin out to long. I can't help but see him as an annoying whiny guy, I just want to slap him sometimes. Mat -I don't know, I just think he has stepped out of character under S. I do like where Rand is but it too doesn't seem really in character based on RJ. Egwene has turned in quit the arrogant B. and I look forward to seeing her get taken down a few notches. Fortuona, comes off as pure evil, and I think maybe that character has been taken a little to far, I don't know how you bring her back to the good side in a manner that's realistic. Over all a good book but to me it certainly feel more like Sanderson than Jordan at this point, and I'm not sure that's good.

A friend and I love to discuss WoT and he was quite mad at me for getting the book so late, anyhow... I followed this thread reading about half of the content and before the book was released you were argueing about what the Midnight Towers could indicate. And yes all of us who have read the books know where they're located and what their purpose was. However both of us couldn't come to any conclusion why the book is named "The Midnight Towers". So we had a little arguement where we both concluded that it's very likely that the black fortress Moridin lives in is one of the towers but here's where we split off.

My friend suggested that since Rand is able to repel the blight, Moridin could very well be his counterpart and that the blight doesn't origin from one source, hence there's a blight occuring in Seanchan aswell.
My thought on the other hand was that Seanchan and the blight is connected, (the world isn't flat duh), what argues against this is that Seanchan have zero experience of darkspawn but we have no clue what Seanchan looks like.

Still, do anyone have any clue why the book is named The Midnight Towers... we're at a loss.

As u all remember that in March 2010 Suvudu (a website of Random house publishers) held a competition in which they pitted Heroes of various fantasy novels against each other 'Cage Matches'. the winner was decided by the votes and RAND was the Winner after many difficult fights.
this October they started another 'Cage Match-Villains ' in which the in which the pitted villian of many fantasy novels, movies, cartoons against each other..but they didnt include WoT villian...but after much argument they decided to let RAND AL'THOR fight against the Winner on 'Cage match-villains'........The Winner of Cage match Villians is Gregor Clegane (Mountain that rides) from aSoIaF by GRRM.
So the match Gregor Vs Rand is on 20th december

Went through ToM today. Seems like Graendal and Lanfear live. Love to see them so, it would have killed the excitement of the Last Battle. Seems like I was right on one account at least: at least of the Forsaken is slated to betray DO.
Perrin's story was bit stale, though at the beginning. There was absolutely no need to stretch his tale so far. Liked the one after he forged his hammer, though. One of the best moments of the book.
Rand's role is awesome. Finally, he's started acting like a ruler. Fortuona's part was bit irritating. I think Sanderson is dragging this whole Seanchan business too far.
Interesting to see Egwene and Elayne, though. Expecting Elayne to feature most of the book, given she wasn't mentioned in book 12. Bit boring.
Egwene can be a character to look for in the end.
Loved to see Mat in action again, though there was more swearing and much less funny moments than before. Want to see him face Last Battle with Seanchan. His part of Ghenghei was awesome, the part worth reading in the entire book, except the fall of Mesaana in "Midnight in the Tower".
Seems like book's heading for great finale, as Sanderson has mentioned in his letter. Just hope things turn out out that way.
But the main player - i think - is Rand's Aiel wife. I think she's up to something, which will change the whole course. I think it will be she which will be the first one to contradict Min's viewings.
Prophecy of the Shadow mentioned at the end is interesting. Words are twisted, but didn't mention Perrin's fall exactly. I think Moridin and Graendal took them literally. The last paragraph merely indicates the chaos that will be there after Rand wins - and maybe fall - in Last Battle.
And I think we have found the second woman of Callandor. I think it's Moraine, for Mat "gave up half the light of the world to save the world".
In all, Sanderson produced a great work, and I hope he'll produce great works after the series is over.
Good luck to you, Sanderson.
