American science fiction author David Louis Edelman has finished Geosynchron, the highly anticipated third book which will conclude his Jump 225 trilogy.
“It’s done,” wrote Edelman on his blog this week as he provided a preview of the book. “This trilogy that began with something I dashed off on a laptop back in 1997 or 1998 is now, more or less, finished. Complete. Finito.” Geosynchron is slated to be released around late February 2010.
It’s been a swift road to fame for Edelman, following the release of his first book Infoquake in 2006. The book was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for best science fiction novel and won plaudits from reviewers. The author’s site describes it as “a stunning trip through the trenches of a technological war fought with product demos, press releases and sales pitches”.
Edelman’s next book Multireal followed in 2008, continuing the saga he created in Infoquake.
Broadly, Edelman says in Geosynchron he will tie up the primary threads he’s been telling in his previous books, while still leaving some ambiguity:
“Does that mean you’re going to see a nice, tidy conclusion where I summarize what every character does for the rest of their lives, Animal House style? Nope. If you’re looking for neat, foursquare endings to all of the plotlines in the trilogy, you’ll be disappointed.”
